Overall
I found Tripods registration process excellent. It took less then 5 minutes and out of five I would give it a four. The deduction
of one mark was due to the requirement of a postal address, which was over come by making one up.
Unfortunately
Tripod don’t offer the feature of being able to connect up with a HTML IDE, but there ‘Site Builder’ tool
does a good job never the less.
Aswell as there
own web page builder, Tripod offers an internal HTML editor which is useful if you can’t get used to there own page
building components.
Online payment (through PayPal)
is also a feature that Tripod offers at no extra charge. Although you have to register with PayPal to avail of this feature,
it isn’t a too complicated process.
On completion of this site
I ran it through the Dr.Watson validator and, not to my surprise, a lot of errors came up. A lot of these errors where due
to unknown elements and lack of ‘alt tags’. Aswell as the errors the validator gave an estimated download time
of over 8 seconds on a standard 56k dial-up modem.
The pop-ups on my home page
aren’t too bad, there is just a banner on the top and another one on the bottom and when you enter the home page a pop-up
ad appears.
Also when you click on the build link you get a pop-up which is quite annoying.
